Avalanche awarness night - Avalanche considerations in couloirs

Steep couloir skiing and riding are increasingly popular within the backcountry skiing community - also in Tromsø. Traditionally the domain of a handful of extreme athletes or winter climbers, steep terrain is becoming more accessible through improvements in ski equipment and availability of route information via the internet, and we see somewhat a normalization of steep skiing and couloir skiing.

Mike Austin from the Avalanche Geeks - https://avalanchegeeks.com/ - joins us to speak on this matter. He is a ski guide, educator, consultant of forecast and rescue. He has first descents in Pakistan and long affiliation with skiing steep - all over the world. He will give insights and thoughts of what to consider before and when venturing towards the steeps.
