Steep couloir skiing and riding are increasingly popular within the backcountry skiing community - also in Tromsø. This avalanche awareness night will address this.

https://avalanchegeeks.com/ - joins us to speak on this matter. He is a ski guide, educator, consultant of forecast and rescue. He has first descents in Pakistan and long affiliation with skiing steep - all over the world. He will give insights and thoughts of what to consider before and when venturing towards the steeps.
Niels Sole Semb - an experienced freeride and steep skier. He will talk about an avalanche incident he and his group experienced in a colouir in Lyngen, bravely sharing how quickly steep skiing can turn from bliss to dread, and share perspectives on what signs they focused on during their trip.
We will end with a dialogue between the two, and the audience. It is important to share experiences and talk openly about the what is hard and difficult - and we encourage respect and admiration for those enabling an open and vulnerable discussion.
