Fishers Peak Community Hike | Fishers Peak State Park

Meet at Mt. Carmel Wellness & Community Center at 8:15 am
Hike is moderate in difficulty and is expected to take around three hours to complete. Bring plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, and proper hiking attire. Lunch will be provided for you after the hike. All hikers will be required to sign a waiver.
Tips to help you prepare for this fun event!
• Start Training Now
If you aren’t used to long hikes, start with short distances and slowly build your endurance up. If you already have a good training routine, challenge yourself by wearing a backpack with weights for a more intense workout. Add no more than 10lbs each week.
• Don’t forget to stretch
Stretch before every workout, especially your core and lower-body muscles in this case. Avoid bouncing your body, so you don’t over stretch. Once your body is used to stretching, you can utilize the bouncing method for more tension.
• Cardio is key
Walking, running, hiking, rowing, yoga, pilates, resistance bands and elyptical machines are all great ways to train cardio. Be sure to vary your workout so you don’t put too much strain of your hips, knees and ankles.
• For an extra challenge
Try High Intensity Interval Training using a heart rate monitor to keep your pace. Reach the highest BPM you can without feeling out of breath. Then every few minutes, push just past that point in your workout, until you become short of breath, then slow back down to normal rate sets.
• wear the right footwear
Proper hiking boots and wool socks limit your risk of blisters and twisted ankles.
• Get Plenty of Sleep & Proper Nutrition
