Kirsten Williams, SAC, has completed a project to evaluate the potential of forage crops in outwintering systems in North East Scotland. Kirsten studied ten forage systems across four Aberdeenshire farms in the winter of 24/25.
Kirsten's Introduction to the Winter Forage Crop Project
The Open Meeting, Forage for Thought, starts at 12 noon, Wednesday 3rd December at Mid-Deeside Church hall, Torphins and provides the opportunity to hear the results, meet the four forage feeding farmers and visit two forage systems at the Deeside Monitor Farmer, Duncan Morrison’s Little and Meikle Maldron farms.
Innovative, informative and thought provoking, Kirsten will help attendees explore options and consider costs for outwintering on forage on their own farms.
There will be funcy pieces and food at the event.
With thanks to the four farmers, Robert Marshall, Lumphanan; Jonny Stewart; Banchory, Alex Stephen, Brechin and Duncan Morrison, Torphins.
The project was supported by Monitor Farm Scotland through Scottish Government Innovation Funding.
Also check out other Meetups in Alford.
