Yes, this is the kickoff event that you know and love.
Yes, we want to encourage everyone to write a 50,000 word first draft of a novel in the 30 days of November.
Yes, that is a lot of words and not very much time.
If you choose a different variation that works better for your life and your goals, and you still encourage other writers enthusiastically in their own goals, you are still very welcome in our community!
YES, we will have handouts and giveaways and buttons and advice and traditions and rituals and selfies with the NaNoRhino and extra writing and social events in November.
OUR PLAN for this year is to basically do all the same stuff we have done for the past several DECADES of writing November novels together. In this transition year as we all figure out what we bring forward and how we accomplish building and connecting our community without an official organization, we will have plenty to figure out. But we are writers, with creative capacity and imaginations and problem solving and plus we have the power of teamwork. Point is: we are unstoppable.
Kickoff is not library co-sponsored this year, since we don't have an official organization to partner with, although it is still held at the library as a public event and the library still generally welcomes all of us (and all writers! because boooooooks!!!)
We can add a zoom option, maybe 30 minutes or so especially for the traditions parts, because our community is VAST and everyone is welcome who supports frantic fiction writers in November.
Spread the word to anyone not on the socials, in whatever means you have to reach them. Communication will be our particular challenge this year. But we believe in each other, and we believe that writing novels in November is worthwhile. And that will always be enough.
