Introducing our performers:

Saba Chachanidze was born into a family of musicians and grew up surrounded by music, which nurtured his passion for performing from an early age. His formal training began at the 28th Georgian Music School, where he joined the folk ensemble Boys and performed Georgian folk songs, chants, and classical music both in Georgia and at international choral festivals.

He later transitioned into jazz, becoming a professional musician and a member of The Quintessence sextet. With the group, Saba performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages and festivals, including the 2017 Harmony Sweepstakes in New York, the 2017 A Cappella Open at Carnegie Hall, Vocal Total in Graz, the 2018 River Bank Festival in Frankfurt, and numerous collaborations with renowned artists. Among his highlights are performances with Nino Katamadze & Insight, often alongside Nikoloz Rachveli and the National Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as appearances on Georgia’s acclaimed music program Ranina across multiple seasons (2018–2022).

Beyond ensemble work, Saba has developed his own solo projects, such as his 2018 Golf Club opening concert in Tbilisi, a 2020 solo performance at the Midsummer Night Jazz Fest, collaborations with leading Georgian jazz musicians like Beka Gochiashvili, and more recent projects including his 2022 Jazz Duet with Ana Jordania and the KASS Land opening ceremony concert.

Papuna Sharikadze is an exceptional Georgian jazz pianist, composer, and singer. Papuna's musical journey began at the tender age of six, where he showcased his talents by exploring various styles and performing classical compositions with chamber orchestras. His dedication to jazz took flight in 2010 under the expert guidance of his mentor, Zura Ramishvili, while he also pursued rigorous training in classical music at the esteemed Paliashvili Central Music School of Tbilisi.

In 2014, Papuna attended the Berklee 5-Week Summer Program in Boston on a full-tuition scholarship, a transformative experience that led him to earn a bachelor's degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in 2019. Since then, he has captivated audiences at iconic venues such as the Blue Note and Birdland Jazz Club in New York City, Scullers Jazz Club, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, and the Tbilisi Concert Hall.

Papuna has also shone brightly at numerous esteemed music festivals, including the Saulkrasti Jazz Festival and the Umbria Jazz Festival, sharing the stage with internationally acclaimed artists like Eddie Gomez, Terence Blanchard, and Danilo Perez.

Giorgi Berishvili, known as Khondzi, is a talented Georgian saxophonist and composer based in New York. Khondzi honed his musical skills at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, Boston Berklee School of Music, and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York. His diverse background and rich musical education inform his unique sound.

Khondzi has performed at numerous venues and festivals, showcasing his artistry with various projects and artists, including the Khondzi Quintet, TM Street Band, and renowned singers like Nino Katamadze and Nutsi Nebieridze. He has also collaborated with talented musicians such as Dato Evgenidze, Stephane, Thanushka Bandara, and Moe Hansum, contributing to a vibrant jazz scene.

Elizaveta (Liza) Chkhaidze, originally from Tbilisi, Georgia, is a US-based composer, pianist, songwriter, and artist whose work bridges classical training with contemporary creativity. A 2023 Forbes Georgia “Under 30” honoree in culture and arts, she studied piano performance at the Boston Conservatory before earning her degree in Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music.

Liza has composed music for television, including the main title for Mtavari Chkviani on Georgia’s leading channel, and contributed scores for films, organizations, and activist movements. As a pianist, she has performed internationally, winning competitions and appearing as a soloist with orchestras, as well as on-screen in televised performances.

Alongside her classical and scoring career, Liza has been releasing original songs since age 14 and, in 2022, co-founded the band Beyond Niagara, blending electro, pop, and jazz influences across two albums.

David (Datucha) Abuladze is a Georgian drummer, composer, and arranger whose life has been connected to music since childhood. Best known for his mastery of percussion, he has performed with a wide range of musicians and ensembles, from jazz and classical orchestras to contemporary and electronic artists. For many years, David was the drummer of Nino Katamadze & Insight, touring internationally and gaining recognition for his powerful yet sensitive style.

Alongside performance, he has authored numerous compositions, lyrics, and arrangements, reflecting his belief that good music transcends genres—whether classical, jazz, rock, or beyond. Now based in the United States, David is channeling his decades of experience into a solo musical project, continuing his lifelong exploration of rhythm and sound.
