Standard Mental Health First AId

Mental Health First Aid equips you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise, understand and respond to an individual experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. Throughout this course, you will learn how to use a practical, evidence based action plan to assist an adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.

Content of this course includes:

Overview of Mental Health issues in Australia

Conversations to support people struggling with anxiety and depression

Approaching someone you suspect may be suicidal and suicide prevention

Supporting people who have experienced trauma, or self-harm & PTSD

De-escalating aggressive behaviours

Substance use/abuse indicators and approaching the person

Self-care and resilience after these conversations
