Tiverton St Peter's Church & Tower Open Day

Grade I listed building, 'a gorgeously ostentatious display of civic pride' (Pevsner). Notable for stone vaulted ceilings to the porch and Greenway Chapel and external carved frieze of merchant ships. Interesting main church interior with chest tombs, Mayor's Pew and splendid candelabra. A chance to see how the church has been changed in the recent re-ordering project. Enjoy a display about the bells and bellringing in the church or take part in one of the tours of the tower, clock, bells and demonstrations of bell ringing. If weather permits, the Tower roof, with town views and of Exe valley, will also be available as part of this tour. Tower tours must be pre-booked; tours not suitable for chidren under 8 or those with certain medical conditions or limited mobility. Wheelchair access possible to most parts of the nave of the church.
