All three Roy children are now grown ups. All three have become leading writers in their own particular sphere. But what has yoga (Ranju) got to do with dance (Sanjoy) got to do with death (Anita)?
How has their mixed Bengali-English heritage shaped their view on the world? How does writing shape their lives? What was it like being a little sister to two big brothers (awful!)? How can brothers so different be twins (f**k knows)?
Join us for a deep dive into some fundamental questions – on life, death and surviving families – and a rich mix of the sublime and the ridiculous, Roy-style.
Ranju is the author of Yoga as Pilgrimage, and Support Direction Space which he co-wrote with Dave Charlton. A long-time practitioner and teacher of yoga, Ranju is fascinated by the interplay between theory and practice, tradition and innovation, ancient and modern, and East and West.
Sanjoy is a dance critic with the Guardian and is editor of Springback magazine (contemporary dance in Europe). The New York Times said of his book, Work/World, “Very few writers can connect the dots between dance and the wider culture as entertainingly as Sanjoy Roy does.”
Anita’s books include children’s book about mortality, Gravepyres School for the Recently Deceased, and an almanac of diverse nature writing Gifts of Gravity and Light. She writes for the Guardian’s Nature Diary column, and is chair of Transition Town Wellington.
