Collagraph Printmaking
This four-day course offers an in-depth introduction to collagraph printmaking, a versatile and accessible print process that combines collage, texture and mark-making to create richly layered prints.
Working in a small group at Half Acre Studios, participants will develop collagraph and drypoint plates using a range of materials and techniques, before inking and printing on our beautiful press. The course will balance structured teaching with time for individual exploration and experimentation.
Collograph is particularly suited to those interested in:
• Collage and mixed media
• Texture, surface and material processes
• Printmaking in general
The course is suitable for beginners as well as artists who want to expand their printmaking practice in a slower, more exploratory way. No previous printmaking experience is required.
Across the four days we will cover:
• Designing and constructing collograph plates
• Drypoint
• Exploring texture, relief and surface
• Inking methods and hand-printing techniques
• Developing a small body of prints
• Ways to continue the process independently after the course
What’s included:
• All materials provided
• Clear technical guidance and demonstrations
• Individual support and discussion
• A focused, supportive studio environment
Participants will leave with a set of finished prints and a solid understanding of collograph printmaking as a process they can continue at home or in their own studio practice.
