The training in child psychotherapy leads to direct certification by the European Association for Psychotherapy (ECP - European Certificate of Psychotherapy). The European Certificate of Psychotherapy was created for the standardisation of the profession of psychotherapy in the whole of Europe and to create a comprehensive framework for psychotherapy. The ECP is awarded to those psychotherapists whose training in psychotherapy is according to the European standards and whose competencies are equivalent to the competencies of an European psychotherapist. EAPTIs - European Accredited Psychotherapy Training Institutes award ECPs to their graduates.
Psychotherapy evolved significantly throughout Europe and in the world, becoming an essential component of global mental health. Psychotherapy is adapting to the cultural and social diversity of patients. Psychotherapists are taught to integrate various cultural perspectives into treatments, making sure that psychotherapy is relevant and efficient for children from different backgrounds. Globalisation had a profound impact on psychotherapy, facilitating the exchange of information and techniques among professionals from various countries. This led to the development of more integrated and innovative approaches in treating mental health problems. Online platforms and telemedicine made the acces to psychotherapy possible for individuals in isolated areas or for those who need flexibility in their schedules.
