Friends, we need your help.
When we bring our babies into this world we have the grandest dreams for them. What if they are a doctor or a lawyer, or a farmer with a big house, lots of kids and a white picket fence. Whatever they do we know that they will be happy because we will make that happen for them. We never wonder, what if they aren't happy, what if they don't succeed right away, what if they have demons, what if they get cancer and then.... they do.
Amy, a single mom, is one of our amazing community members who for years has been the one running to danger when the rest of us are backing up. Amy along with her daughter serve as local firefighters. They have saved us, comforted us and came to us in our time of need no matter what time we called. Friends, we need to help Amy and her daughter now in their time of need. Amy's son Eric was recently diagnosed with cancer, news no family needs to hear.
This is what Amy was willing to share with us " So Eric just turned 26 a couple weeks ago and was diagnosed with testicular cancer that has spread to his lungs, as well as lymph nodes in his groin, back and abdomen. He had surgery Aug 1 to remove the original tumor and will start chemo next Monday for 12 weeks, he has since developed a blood clot and infection after the surgery. My daughter and I are taking care of him at home, as he requires 24 hour care and can't do many tasks himself. We both have cut our hours at work to be home with him. We also have my 10 year old at home and my 94 year old grandpa with dementia. So it's been a lot, we haven't had a lot of medical bills yet, but we are expecting some, apparently there's a med that may not be covered by Ohip and its quite expensive, then we've just been paying for hospital visits parking, gas to London and back, ensures and stuff like that.
Eric isn't working of course, and hasn't in a couple years as he's been battling his own demons of addiction, he is clean now and has recently got his grade 12.
