What is Decoration Day?
Decoration Day is an occasion when a church congregation gathers to place flowers on the graves of loved ones and to hold a memorial service for them.

As they gather together, living Christians remember those who nourished them in the faith. Hardly an entirely somber event, Decoration Day balances reflection and celebration.

Families often come together on this day, providing an important opportunity to teach children about their ancestors and the communities in which they once lived.
