Blue Water Highway on the stage @Jones von Drehle

Blue Water Highway is a Texas-based Americana band celebrated for their rich harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, and dynamic performances. Founded by lifelong friends Zack Kibodeaux and Greg Essington, the band takes its name from the coastal road connecting their hometown to Galveston. Their music blends folk, rock, and blues, drawing comparisons to artists like The Eagles and Bruce Springsteen. ​

Over the years, they've shared stages with notable acts such as Bob Seger, Reckless Kelly, and Turnpike Troubadours. Their third album, "Paper Airplanes," produced by Cason Cooley, led The Austin-American Statesman to hail them as "one of Austin's best Americana acts," noting their "legitimate national potential." Their latest self-produced album, "Year of the Dragon," showcases a grittier side while preserving their signature soulful energy.
