Are you a nurse, mid-wife, ob-gyn, doula, or a supportive friend/partner? This hands on training povides invaluable insights on how to support birthing people with deep care, integrity, and practical skills.
Very simple physical contact and emotional presence can make a huge impact of the birthing experience for a person laboring and delivering.
But what type of touch should you use? Where should you touch them? How often? and what do you say?
We'll cover therse core ideas
How, why and when to offer certain types of touch
Different types of kind of emotional and physical interventions with birth
Respecting your professional AND personal scope of practice and abilities (ie don't offer what you can't)
Plus
We'll learn/refresh our anatomy, understand the mechanics of breath work more, and explore how physical movement can be valuable.
Taught by Kate Forier of Stability in Motion. I'm a massage therapist, relationship coach, and educator.
What people say about learning these techniques with Stability in Motion:
"I learned a lot, more than I ever expected, and had a lot of fun in the process!" - B
"Kate was extremely knowledgeable and welcoming from the start, creating an immediate community in the class. She engaged with absolutely everyone and tailored instruction to make sure everyone got what they needed." - Christine
"I learned how to find what their body needed instead of doing what I thought I should. Incredible class." - Kaisa
Info: We'll begin with a discussion about the role of touch while we share our lunch together (b.y.o. meals, we will provide snacks). The day will be spent covering anatomy of breathing, movement principles of the pelvis and the connectivity of the torso. We'll be moving around and engaging in thoughtful conversations about the material so be prepared to be engaged
Info: Today during the shared meal (b.y.o. meals, we will provide snacks), we'll do a QA about yesterdays lessons, share experiences in our own bodies and the bodies of people we've supported. Then we'll dive into a combination of hands-on skills and emotional skills while while we work with partners. For this portion we'll be working learning and practice specific touch techniques and massage skills that will benefit womb carriers who are pregnant, laboring and delivering, and post partum. The emphasis will be on laboring.
