Join us sketching at a Symphony performance of Broadway Hits at the Pavilion. Great subject matter, crowds, sunset, the tented venue, and practice a night scene. It is a free event, no tickets required.
Meeting point: inside gates at South Gate Plaza - where you enter when coming from parking across Woodlands Waterway (event parking is at office buildings) We’ll go inside at 6:45 and sit on the hill together (seating info below). Stay for as much of the show as you can.
MUST READ visitor policy: Go to WoodlandsCenter.org for parking, bag policy, picnic rules and info for Performing Arts shows. Save yourself a trip back to your car and read the visitor policy.
Seating: If you would prefer to sit in FREE mezzanine seating, comment below and we will try to reserve seats together. Do not bring chair for the hill - free chairs are availble on-site.
Food: concessions on site, Picinics permited, no outside drinks, water filling-stations on-site. See website for info.
Broadway music performs a gravity defying act every single time it leaps from the stage, in through our ears and eyes, straight into the depths of the heart. It makes us feel like we can fly, like we can finally be free, like we can be something new for the first time. Broadway music is special. The Houston Symphony and a talented vocalist or two are taking on the best of New York’s legendary street. What is brilliant in NYC will be even more majestic as a full symphony orchestra illuminates these iconic scores under a Pavilion sky.
All skill levels welcome. If you’ve never joined us, now’s the time. Not a lesson or a critique, just friendly urban sketchers drawing what they see.
Bring your own art supplies (see Pavilion bag policy at woodlandscenter.org) and be ready to have fun sketching with other enthusiastic Urban Sketchers.
