Mosquitoes All Year Round

As we approach spring, mosquito season is right around the corner. Join us for a presentation by the Monmouth County Mosquito Control Division on Mosquitoes All Year Round, followed by a demonstration of mosquito traps and question and answer session.

About the presenters: Marissa Mascaro is a biologist and educator with the Monmouth County Mosquito Control Division. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Science from Stockton University. After graduating, she spent a year with AmeriCorps doing stream assessments and teaching the public about water quality and macroinvertebrates. As an educator for the Monmouth County Mosquito Control Division, her goal is to teach everyone about mosquitoes and ticks, the diseases they carry, and how to be protected from their bites.

Taryn Crepeau is the Assistant Superintendent of the Monmouth County Mosquito Control Division. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Stockton University and nearly 20 years of experience in public health mosquito control. She has amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience in the biology, ecology, behavior, and control of mosquitoes.

The mission of the Monmouth County Mosquito Control Division is to manage the overall populations of mosquitoes within the County and provide country residents and visitors services to reduce transmission of mosquito-borne diseases while maintaining an environmental comfort level that is suitable for the enjoyment of outdoor activities. The Mosquito Control Division accomplishes this using integrated pest management methods that include mosquito and disease surveillance, source reduction, biological control, public education, and pesticide control. Their science-based program prioritizes preservation of human-mosquito interaction and incorporates non-pesticide control methods whenever possible.
