CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. ~ Alternative Baseball Organization (ABO) announces ABO AND PROS is now scheduled to be hosted at Temple High School in Temple, Georgia on Saturday, November 1st, thanks to the support of administration and the great communities in Carroll County. This unique baseball exhibition, the only one of its kind in the United States, features athletes with disabilities playing alongside former professional baseball players and community leaders in a traditional 9-inning baseball game. Alternative Baseball is an associated member of the World Baseball Softball Confederation; the governing body for international cup baseball and softball and the curation of both sports at the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The event serves to raise awareness and acceptance for the positive capabilities and working collaboration of those with disabilities. The event will be open to the public for volunteering opportunities and to spectate. Past pros who have participated include Atlanta Braves Hall of Famer Tim Hudson and Braves manager Brian Snitker. Other past pros include Greg Norton, Roger McDowell, Kendall Graveman, Lance Cormier, Billy Burns, Anthony Lerew, Jared Walsh, Craig Brazell, Jeff Keppinger, Johnny Estrada, and others. Pros will be announced as they confirm participation throughout the year. Admission to all Alternative Baseball events is free with a “pass the hat”-style offering donation bucket passed during the middle of the 2nd Inning. Special thanks to Temple High administration and Keith Wagner for putting together the meeting and the event’s confirmation.
Alternative Baseball founder Taylor Clark Duncan, a native of Hiram with past personal ties to Carroll County, stated, “We try to go to communities of all sizes to present this unique opportunity, not just the big cities. Awareness, acceptance, and community integration/involvement is key to a positive future for those with disabilities. It is an opportunity to put the West Georgia region on the map in terms of continued innovative opportunities like this. We are ecstatic for Temple High’s support and the continued support of Carroll County and the ABO base who are making this event possible.”
