Hey JETS FANS, time to shake off the Thursday night game and get ready for a big Sunday at Gaspars.
Let’s start with a quick recap of the Patriots game. The Jets actually hung with New England for three full quarters and that opening drive was a thing of beauty. Fourteen plays, more than eight minutes, and Justin Fields finishing it off for the touchdown. The defense had some solid moments and John Metchie got his first Jets TD which was great to see.
But here is the honest truth. We left a lot on the table. Adonai Mitchell had a couple of drops he absolutely should have caught, but he was open all night. If Fields made the right reads and got the ball out quicker, Mitchell could have easily had a monster game. There were plays there to be made and the passing game just never clicked. That is the story of the season so far.
We had a small group at the watch party, around 15 people total, but most who came out stayed until the final whistle. We didn’t have enough people there for our full 50/50 raffle, but we gave everyone a single ticket and still gave away a couple of prizes to the faithful who showed up. Small crowd, big heart. Thank you to all those that came out.
Now for the big news heading into the Ravens game.
The Jets are officially benching Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor will start on Sunday.
Hallelujah!!!
This is definitely the right move and long overdue. We simply cannot evaluate our receivers or our offensive coordinator when Fields is struggling to see the field. Tyrod certainly isn't the long term answer, but he is decisive, accurate and gives us a real chance to see what Mitchell, Metchie and the rest of the new guys can do. I just hope Tyrod stays healthy long enough for us to get a real look at this offense with a veteran running it.
Now let’s look ahead to Sunday.
Our Jets take on the Ravens. As always, we'll be at Gaspar's and I hope we see a much bigger crowd this weekend. It is our last watch party before Thanksgiving and win or lose, it is always a great time seeing everyone and catching up. Twenty one years strong and this fan family keeps on rolling.
As always you can expect:
• The TV's tuned to the Jets
• Our giant Jets flag for rookies to sign
• The full 50/50 raffle if we get enough people
• Jets merchandise giveaways
• A loud, fun, family atmosphere that no bar in Tampa can match
So make your plans, bring a friend, bring a rookie, bring something for the raffle table if you want and come be part of the best Jets community outside of New York.
See you all on Sunday.
