The Tracklayer Program’s objective is to create a pool of educated
tracklayers/coordinators to manage USCA events from the club level to international level with standardized education. In 2026, All USCA Clubs will be required to have classified tracklayers and a coordinator to perform the tracking phase at club trials.
You must have a USCA Track Layer scorebook and membership card in order to be classified at the end. Seminar will include classroom, written test and laying of actual tracks outside. Topic covered will include:
a. Knowledge of tracklaying regulations, variations in track patterns, land division to yield the most number of tracks, orientation in the terrain, and working with variation in vegetation.
b. Safety, being in control and selflessness by the Trial Tracklayer/Tracking Coordinator.
c. Importance of the Tracklayer’s role in assisting the Judge to evaluate the dogs entered in the Event
