Pottery and Contortion comprise a show examining “GOD” by challenging the limits of body and belief. Jonathan Nosan- performer, potter and contortionist, presents with phenomenal elasticity, a new stream of thought requiring flexible thinking. Moulding his body as if made of wet clay, Nosan’s positions and perspectives take stage as if sculpted by the hands of the divine craftsman.
The show, created in the hybrid form of Performance Lecture, contains 5 chapters. Each chapter, with a unique movement vocabulary, examines different ways to interact and create a space and relationship to “GOD.”
Our sensitivity sharpens as Nosan provides us with new tools to define our existence and the concept of belief. His physical refinement as a contortionist and creativity as a potter culminates in a union of near holiness between body and clay, artist and audience.
Jonathan Nosan is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley in Japanese History and Fulbright Scholar to Japan in Design of Sacred Space

קדרות, אמונה ואקרובטיקה במופע הבוחן ומאתגר את גבולות הגוף דרך חקירת מושג האלוהות. DIRT נע סביב החומר ממנו נוצרנו ושאליו נשוב – עפר (אדמה, חימר). ג׳ונתן נוסן פרפורמר, קדר ואקרובט, מציג באלסטיות פנומנלית רעיונות הדורשים גמישות מחשבתית. הוא לש את גופו לצורות כמו היה עשוי חימר רטוב, וכמותו מתעצב כחומר ביד היוצר – פעם האנושי ופעם השמיימי.
העפר – אחריתו של הגוף, המסמל עבורנו את סופנו והתפרקותנו ונתפס כראייה לזמניותנו בעולם, נגאל באמצעות החיים שמפיח בו, כשהוא יוצר ממנו כלי קיבול ומציע לנו התבוננות מיסטית של התגלגלות וקבלה שבצידה תקווה אל-אישית.
היצירה בנויה בפורמט של מייצג-הרצאה ומורכבת מחמישה פרקים, כשכל פרק עוסק בהיבט אחר של מושג האלוהות ומתאפיין בתנועתיות הייחודית לו. ג'ונתן מעביר אותנו מפרק לפרק ומשכלל את העדשה דרכה אנו חווים את הקיום שלנו מול האמונה כרעיון. יכולתיו הפיזיות כאקרובט ונסיונו כקדר מופנים לביטוי הקדושה שטמונה בחומר, והקסם שבמפגש מול קהל.
ג’ונתן נוסן בוגר אוניברסיטת קליפורניה בברקלי, למד על מלגת פולברייט בקיוטו בתכנית עיצוב מקומות קדושים. שיחק בברודווי בהצגה על חייו של בוב דילן, ובמטרופוליטן אופרה. בוגר ה- Theatre and Circus School בלונדון.
