Make Your Own Miso
Interest in fermented foods has surged in recent years, thanks to growing recognition from health organizations that serve a beneficial element of healthy eating. Miso—fermented soybean paste—is one such food, celebrated for its rich flavor and its potential to help cultivate a healthy gut biome.
This workshop offers a delicious and informative introduction to miso. You’ll learn what miso is, explore its history, and discover the benefits fermented foods can bring to your diet. Participants will sample several varieties of miso, learn the basics of how it’s made, and take home a portion to enjoy. You’ll also receive a collection of recipes to help you incorporate miso into your everyday cooking.
Our presenter, Anne Ediger, is an applied linguist who was born and raised in Japan and lived there for more than 20 years. She returns regularly to visit friends and family and to continue her research. Miso has been a staple in her diet since childhood, and she now makes her own miso at home.
