Filmed in Taylor, the Hot Spot is a 1990 neo-noir film directed by Dennis Hopper, starring Don Johnson as a drifter named Harry Madox who arrives in a small Texas town. The plot involves him getting a job at a used car lot, getting entangled in a torrid affair with the owner's wife (Virginia Madsen), and falling for a young woman working at the lot (Jennifer Connelly), all while planning to rob the local bank. The movie is known for its steamy, atmospheric tone, crime-focused plot, and blend of 1940s/50s noir style with a more modern sensibility.
