Meet us at our panel discussion at WOMEX 2025 in Tampere!
🔹 Romani musicians have shaped the musical landscape of Europe – particularly in East Central Europe – through their deep contributions to folk traditions. These contributions are widely recognised, though not always equally acknowledged in national cultural narratives. Despite clear artistic excellence, Romani musicians continue to face significant structural barriers in access to professional opportunities, funding, and international networks.
🔹 Based on our findings, the experiences of Romani musicians, and the Needs Assessment study, conducted after our Roma Connection conference, this session explores the pressing needs of Romani musicians today, emphasising the importance of tailored support, professional networking, and strategic interventions to foster equal opportunities.
The panel will share findings from the needs assessments, highlight best practices, and propose pathways toward more inclusive and efficient mechanisms to help Romani artists thrive in today’s global music industry.
