Kolmapäeval, 8. oktoobril, toimub Kopli 93 rahvamajas kohtumine teemal “Mullast saagini”.
Mullaökoloog Piret Vacht tutvustab sel õhtul kõikidele huvilistele Kopli 93 kogukonnaaia mullast ja viljadest võetud analüüside tulemusi ning uuringutulemuste põhjal valminud raportit. Tule kuula, milliseid teadmisi oleme kogukonnaaia mulla ja viljade kohta uuringu käigus saanud!
Sel aiandushooajal viidi Kopli 93 kogukonnaaias läbi uuring, mille käigus analüüsiti nii aiamullas kui ka peenardes kasvanud viljades raskemetallide (plii, vask, elavhõbe, nikkel, kaadmium, tsink) sisaldust. Lisaks määrati mulla pH ning orgaanilise aine sisaldus selles. Uuringu eesmärk on hinnata linnaaia mulla tervist ning kas seal kasvav saak on toidulauale ohutu.
Piret Vacht on ökoloog, kellel on doktorikraad mulla ökoloogia valdkonnas ning oma teadustöö raames on ta tegelenud paljude teemadega, mis käsitlevad toidu kasvatamist linnas.

🌱 From Soil to Harvest 🌱

On Wednesday, October 8, a talk titled “From Soil to Harvest” will take place at the Kopli 93 Community Centre.
Soil ecologist Piret Vacht will present the results of soil and vegetable analyses taken from the Kopli 93 community garden, as well as the report compiled on the basis of these findings.
Come and hear what we have learned about the soil and harvest of our community garden through this study!
This gardening season, a study was conducted in the Kopli 93 community garden to assess the levels of heavy metals (lead, copper, mercury, nickel, cadmium, zinc) in both the garden soil and the vegetables grown in the beds. In addition, soil pH and organic matter content were measured.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the health of the urban garden soil and to determine whether the produce grown there is safe to eat.
Piret Vacht is an ecologist with a PhD in soil ecology. In her research, she has worked extensively on topics related to growing food in urban environments.
