These techniques are often seen as a base discipline of Kinetic Orchestra’s artistic work. Physicality and the ability to adapt into different ways of moving are emphasized during the workshop. Conventional flyer–base divisions are also questioned, while new ways to balance and enrich partnering are explored. The practice is built more on understanding than on repeating. Training combines a wide range of skills – from acrobatics to contact improvisation and martial arts. Teachers ✨ Jarkko Mandelin – a Helsinki-based choreographer and teacher. Educated at the Finnish National Ballet School and the Theatre Academy of Helsinki, Mandelin is known for his movement-based practice and scientific-like approach to movement. He has worked for 25 years as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer across theatre, circus, and dance. ✨ Oiva Mandelin – a Helsinki-based dancer who has been part of Kinetic Orchestra’s works for years. He is a member of the Finnish National Breaking Team and teaches breaking while still studying. Oiva will be assisting Jarkko in the partnering classes.
