Avatud arhitektuuriloeng / Open Lecture: Robert Mull "The Free World"

2025/2026 õppeaasta avatud loengute seeria toimub Kunstiteaduse ja Visualkultuuri Instituudi ja Arhitektuuriteaduskonna koostöös.
Selle õppeaasta teemaks on “Arhitektuur ja hoole-eetika”, loenguid kureerib KVI vanemteadur dr Ingrid Ruudi.

27. novembril kell 18 astub EKA aulas lavale Robert Mull loenguga “The Free World”.
Loeng käsitleb Global Free Uniti tegevust konflikti- ja põgenikepiirkondades nagu Prantsusmaa, Kreeka ja Türgi ning Ukraina ja Gaza toetuseks, tuues fookusesse arhitektuuri eetika, vastutuse ja hoolitsemiskohustuse.

Robert Mull on arhitektuuri külalisprofessor Limericki ja Umeå Ülikoolides ning urbanistikapraksise Publica (London) juht. Varem on ta olnud Brightoni Ülikooli arhitektuuri- ja disainikateedri juht ning London Metropolitan University Sir John Cassi kunsti-, media ja disainiteaduskonna dekaan. Mull juhib rahvusteülest vabaharidusplatvormi Global Free Unit, mis koostöös akadeemiliste, institutsionaalsete ja mittetulunduslike partneritega viib ellu projekte põgenikekriiside aladel, sõjapiirkondades ning vanglates, koolides ja kohalikes kogukondades. Hetkel pühendub Mull koos Ukraina partneritega Harkivi Arhitektuurikooli toetamisele ning projektidele Kairos, mis toetavad Gazast põgenema sunnitud tudengeid ja õppejõude. Robert kuulub ka organisatsiooni Office for Displaced Designers.

Loengud on mõeldud kõikidele erialadele, mitte ainult arhitektuurivaldkonna üliõpilastele ja professionaalidele.

The 2025/2026 academic year open lecture series will be held in collaboration with the Institute of Art History and Visual Culture and the Faculty of Architecture. The theme of this academic year is “Architecture and the Ethics of Care” and the lectures will be curated by KVI Senior Researcher Dr. Ingrid Ruudi.

On November 27 at 6 pm Robert Mull will give a lecture “The Free World”.
He will discuss the ethical responsibility of architecture and its duty of care to others through the work of the Global Free Unit in areas of displacement and conflict including France, Greece and Turkey and now in support of Ukraine and Gaza.

Robert Mull is Adjunct Professor of Architecture at the University of Limerick, a visiting Professor at Umeå University Sweden, and a Director at Publica, London. Robert was previously Director of Architecture and Dean of The Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Head of Architecture and Design at Brighton University. Robert now leads the Global Free Unit, a transnational educational structure with academic, research, NGO and institutional partners focusing on live projects within areas of displacement and war and institutions including prisons, schools and communities. Robert is currently working with partners in Ukraine in support of the Kharkiv School of Architecture and on projects in Cairo in support of displaced Gazan students and academics. Robert is also part of the Office of Displaced Designers.

The lectures are intended for all disciplines, not only for students and professionals in the field of architecture.

The lecture series is supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
