Allyn Johnson and Touchstone

We're extremely excited that Allyn Johnson's new organ quintet called "Touchstone" will be performing at Takoma Station this Saturday night. The band features Robert Landham on alto sax, Chris Barrick on vibraphone, Dave Manley on guitar and Nasar Abadey on drums.

Allyn has been playing piano since the age of 5 and has achieved such a high level of proficiency that he is a first-call pianist for both local and national touring acts. He has been a professor of jazz studies at the University of the District of Columbia since 2006, yet still has time to perform with a wide range of musicians, including a long list of jazz greats. These days he's playing a lot more organ, and this new group Touchstone will feature Allyn's latest organ explorations. The performance will include both original tunes and new interpretations of Alllyn's favorite jazz standards.
