This event presents two short films by Joanne Cesario. First is her experimental short film "Here, Here," which was invited by Locarno in 2020 and Women Make Waves International Film Festival in 2022, along with the 2024 documentary short film "Invisible Labor," which received widespread acclaim at the QCinema Film Festival last year. Through these films, we can gain insight into the Philippines from different social issues and perspectives.
Additionally, there will be a discussion in related fields following the screenings. We welcome everyone to join us during the weekdays to watch and discuss these stories that belong to the Philippines.
“Invisible Labor” 2024|21m
Marcos then, Marcos now. Filipino workers unite and lead the struggle for economic and political rights, determined to shape the course of history. In between, a janitor painstakingly rewinds videotapes featuring these struggles, unknowingly aiding in the preservation of history.

“Here, Here” 2020|19m|
Years after mining operations began, a once rugged and undisturbed town changes drastically. Koi, 22, returns home for the first time since leaving for college, and does so with an infected ear. He accompanies his mother Tonet in waiting for his father, both of them clueless as to whether his father could make it home alive after an accident in the extraction tunnel. As Koi reconnects with his hometown in slow decay, he fears the impending possibility of losing both his father and his hearing. Part fiction, part experiment, and purposefully blurring the distinction, Here, Here is a loose visual study on landscapes and terrains, both natural and beyond.
