The Timeless Body – Transformations in Time, Space, and Matter

The body is an open field, a natural landscape that bears the changes of seasons, the weight of events, and the vibrations of time. It is a substance that never lies, a matter in constant transformation, persisting in its existence through its borrowed nature. In this workshop, the body is approached not as something owned but as an eternally unborn possibility that shifts according to the moment, the role, or the story.
Through Butoh techniques, we explore the concept of time: how the past and future converge into the “here and now,” how the body becomes a vessel of the “elsewhere and otherwhen,” transcending age and stereotypes. We will work with undulating breath, the dialogue between flesh and bones, and rhythms that defy the extremes of the minimal and the maximal, the tragic and the comic.
Our goal is to free the body from its limits and create a timeless space of expression where age and distinctions dissolve, leaving room for transformation, beauty, and trust. Through organic warm-ups, dynamic stances, improvisation exercises, and Butoh techniques, the workshop culminates in a collective performance, a mirror of the timeless essence of existence.

Vicky Filippa, a dancer, choreographer, and teacher of Japanese contemporary Butoh, pioneers radical practices and aesthetics of the genre in Greece while collaborating with international artists. Her vision focuses on developing a new vocabulary of movement and stagecraft under the title Quantum Body. Since 2008, she has been systematically teaching, directing, and choreographing, with her works presented in Greece and abroad. In 2015, she founded Quantum Body Athens Butoh Dance Group, now one of the largest Butoh communities worldwide, with a professional division of 20 dancers. The group operates independently, supported by its members and audience.
Alongside her artistic pursuits, Vicky holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Crete and a master’s in Bioinformatics. She has worked as a researcher at the Academy of Athens and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Medical School of Athens. In December 2021, she published her first poetry book, “The Girl in the Wooden Dress.”
Alex Mitros is a composer, performer, and music producer. Initially earning a scholarship to the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, he soon turned his focus entirely to music, which has been his passion since childhood. Starting his career as a performer, Alex has been working as a music producer and composer in theater since 2022. His work explores diverse musical genres, leading to bold and unconventional compositions and performances.
He has collaborated with directors including: Federico Romani (Seeking the Lost Paradise, 2025) Atsushi Takenuchi (Frequency in Motion, 2025) Vicky Filippa (En-Grave-INK, Venice 2024; dARTs, Amsterdam 2024 and December 2024) Tasos Bekiaris (Saragine, Arroyo Theater, 2022) Angela Brouskou (Eumenides, Elefsina 2023 European Capital of Culture; Medea Material, BIOS, 2024).
Since 2020, Alex has also been pursuing a Psychology degree with a scholarship at Deree – The American College of Greece.

Το Άχρονο Σώμα – Μεταμορφώσεις στον Χρόνο, τον Χώρο και την Ύλη

Το σώμα είναι ένα ανοιχτό πεδίο, ένα φυσικό τοπίο που φέρει τις αλλαγές των εποχών, τα βάρη των γεγονότων και τις δονήσεις του χρόνου. Είναι μια ύλη που ποτέ δεν ψεύδεται, μια ουσία που συνεχώς μεταμορφώνεται, επιμένοντας να υπάρχει μέσα από τη δανεική της φύση. Στο εργαστήριο αυτό, το σώμα αντιμετωπίζεται όχι ως κάτι κεκτημένο, αλλά ως μια εν δυνάμει υπόσταση που αλλάζει ανάλογα με τη στιγμή, τον ρόλο, την ιστορία.
Μέσα από τις τεχνικές του Butoh, εξερευνούμε την έννοια του χρόνου: πώς το παρελθόν και το μέλλον συναντιούνται στο «εδώ και τώρα», πώς το σώμα μπορεί να γίνει φορέας του «άλλοτε», πέρα από την ηλικία και τα στερεότυπα. Θα δουλέψουμε με την αναπνοή που κυματίζει, με τη σάρκα και τα οστά που συνομιλούν, με ρυθμούς που ανατρέπουν το ελάχιστο και το μέγιστο, το τραγικό και το κωμικό.
Στόχος μας είναι να απελευθερώσουμε το σώμα από τα όριά του και να δημιουργήσουμε ένα άχρονο πεδίο έκφρασης, όπου η ηλικία και οι διακρίσεις διαλύονται, αφήνοντας χώρο για τη μεταμόρφωση, την ομορφιά και την εμπιστοσύνη.
Με οργανικές προθερμάνσεις, δυναμικές θέσεις, αυτοσχεδιασμούς και τεχνικές Butoh, το εργαστήριο ολοκληρώνεται με τη σύνθεση μιας συλλογικής παράστασης, καθρέφτη του άχρονου της ύπαρξης.

Η Βίκυ Φιλίππα, χορεύτρια, χορογράφος και δασκάλα του ιαπωνικού μεταμοντέρνου χορού Butoh. Εργάζεται για την προώθηση των ριζοσπαστικών πρακτικών και της αισθητικής του είδους στην Ελλάδα, ενώ παράλληλα δημιουργεί συνεργασίες με ξένους/ες καλλιτέχνες/ιδες. Όραμά της είναι η ανάπτυξη ενός νέου λεξιλογίου κίνησης και σκηνικής τέχνης με τίτλο “Quantum Body”. Από το 2008 διδάσκει, σκηνοθετεί και χορογραφεί συστηματικά, με έργα της να παρουσιάζονται στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό. Το 2015 ίδρυσε την ομάδα Quantum Body Athens Butoh Dance Group, μία από τις μεγαλύτερες κοινότητες Butoh παγκοσμίως, ενώ τα τελευταία χρόνια λειτουργεί και επαγγελματικό τμήμα 20 χορευτών και χορευτριών. Η ομάδα λειτουργεί ανεξάρτητα, υποστηριζόμενη από τα μέλη της και το κοινό.
Εκτός από τις καλλιτεχνικές της δραστηριότητες, η Βίκυ έχει σπουδάσει μαθηματικά στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης και κατέχει μεταπτυχιακό στη Βιοπληροφορική. Έχει εργαστεί ως ερευνήτρια στην Ακαδημία Αθηνών και αυτήν την περίοδο είναι υποψήφια διδάκτωρ στην Ιατρική Σχολή Αθηνών. Τον Δεκέμβριο του 2021 κυκλοφόρησε το πρώτο ποιητικό βιβλίο της με τίτλο «Το Κορίτσι με το Ξύλινο Φόρεμα».
Ο Αλέξανδρος Μήτρος είναι συνθέτης, περφόρμερ και μουσικός παραγωγός. Ξεκίνησε τις σπουδές του με υποτροφία στη Σχολή Μεταλλειολόγων Μηχανικών του Εθνικού Μετσόβιου Πολυτεχνείου. Ωστόσο σύντομα τον κέρδισε η μουσική, με την οποία ασχολείται αδιάκοπα από την ηλικία των δέκα χρόνων.
Έχοντας ξεκινήσει την καριέρα του στη μουσική αρχικά ως ερμηνευτής, εργάζεται από το 2022 στον χώρο του θεάτρου ως μουσικός παραγωγός και συνθέτης. Κυρίαρχο στοιχείο της δουλειάς του είναι ο πειραματισμός με ετερόκλητα μουσικά είδη, πράγμα που οδηγεί σε μία τολμηρή προσέγγιση που καταργεί τα στερεότυπα και τον οδηγεί σε ιδιοσυγκρασιακές συνθέσεις και ερμηνείες.
Έχει γράψει μουσική και συνεργαστεί με τους σκηνοθέτες/ιδες: Βίκυ Φίλιππα («Εn-Grave-INK», Βενετία 2024 και «dARTs», Άμστερνταμ 2024), Τάσο Μπεκιάρη («Σαραγήνη», Θέατρο Arroyo, 2022) και Άντζελα Μπρούσκου («Ευμενίδες», 2023 Ελευσίνα Πολιτιστική Πρωτεύουσα της Ευρώπης, Μυστήριο 35 Αισχύλου Project και «Μήδειας Υλικό» του Χάινερ Μύλλερ, BIOS, 2024).
Από το 2020 φοιτά με υποτροφία στο Αμερικανικό Κολλέγιο Ελλάδος – Deree College στο τμήμα Ψυχολογίας.
