Soup Supper & Discussing St. Lucy's Land Acknowledgement

Perhaps you have wondered what the Acknowledgement Statement in the Sunday Bulletin “We acknowledge with respect the Onondaga Nation, Firekeepers of the Haudenosaunee, the Indigenous peoples on whose ancestral lands St. Lucy’s stands.” is all about!?

The Parish Council challenged the St. Lucy’s Racial Equity Committee to explore how we might expand the Statement to indicate a more proactive approach to our Indigenous neighbors. As a result, the committee has drafted 10 clauses that would enhance our self-understanding and direct us as a congregation to a more dynamic interaction with them.

Tuesday Oct 7 will be the first of three sessions when members of the congregation will discuss these new clauses of our Acknowledgement. We will have soup & bread at 5:30 PM in the basement below the Sanctuary and engage the topics till 7:00 PM. You don’t need to bring anything except for a justice mind and a compassionate heart. There will also be “Soup & Bread Conversations” on Oct 14 and Oct 21.
