Wessex School of Arms, with the English Country Backswording Association (ECBA), are pleased to announce that 'The Blackford Prize' ECBA Open Tournament will now take place at the Battle for Black Cat Bridge event on Saturday 30th August.
The tournament takes its name from Robert Blackford, the Swindon Butcher, one of the most noted old gamesters (backsword player) of the late 18th century who was know to break as many as 14 heads in a single day!
This tournament is open to all HEMA practitioners who are aged 18+, a member of a club of good repute and so fully insured. All places in the tournament must be booked in advance.

The champion gets their name engraved on our beautiful trophy. Medals and national renown for 1st, 2nd and 3rd!
And, the tournament may also contribute to HEMAratings in singlestick if we manage to get representation from at least 3 or 4 clubs!
