Ethan Hawke stars as Lorenza Hart, a legendary Broadway lyricist forced to reflect on his life as he faces professional and personal challenges during the opening night of his former partner’s hit show, ‘Oklahoma!’. The film takes place entirely in a Manhattan bar, floating through tales of friendship, art, love and a myriad of glamourous stars and friends that contemplate life with Hart.
Hawke’s performance as Hart has been heralded as a possible best actor nomination, swapping his usual broody and contemplative roles for this larger than life take on a musical legend.
Richard Linklater's latest film serves as a bittersweet farewell to Lorenza Hart, as he contemplates his life’s work, relationships and happiness with the help of his gossipy associates of Old New York.
