We welcome the Tango Jazz Quartet to Swansea International Jazz Festival from Buenos Aeires The group is a pioneer in creating a new sound in Tango, taking its melodies and rhythm to join it with the harmony and improvisation of Jazz. This has generated great recognition for TJQ, first in the world and then in Argentina. After 20 years of experience, TJQ has managed to establish itself on the international music scene. As a consequence of this, TJQ has already made 30 international tours, having performed in Europe (17 tours), in the United States (3 tours), in China-Hong Kong, one in Russia-Siberia, in Africa (3 tours) and in Brazil ( 5 tours). They have released 5 albums, just as they usually perform as a quartet, they also have concerts done with jazz Big Bands and Symphony Orchestras and collaborations with great musicians such as Richard Galliano, Delfeayo Marsalis and many more. TJQ stands out for having created a new way of interpreting Argentinian Popular Music, but also for its constant activity and innovation in its musical proposal.

This isn't just a concert; it's a musical journey as the band seamlessly blend the passionate melodies and rhythms of traditional tango with the harmonic depth and spontaneity of jazz. The result? A sound that's both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. With 10 albums and countless international tours under their belt, Tango Jazz Quartet have graced the stages of the world's most prestigious jazz clubs and festivals. Their music transcends borders and now, they're bringing it Swansea.
Their recent project paid tribute to the legendary Astor Piazzolla, the revolutionary composer who transformed tango into "nuevo tango" by infusing it with jazz and classical influences. Expect to hear some of these stunning arrangements live! Tango Jazz Quartet have also dived deeper into the roots of tango, celebrating the timeless work of Carlos Gardel, one of Argentina's most iconic singers and composers.
Whether you're an avid jazz fan, a tango lover, or simply looking for a unique live music experience, you'll find this is the gig for you.
