New bands aren’t just teenagers and twenty-somethings taking their first steps into live performance. They can be more experienced musicians launching new projects or local artists growing their audience. This month’s New Bands Night focuses on three of those:
7.30 - Brothers Again
8.20 - The Long Version
9.10 - Leave it to Johnny
Leave It To Johnny bring original, guitar-based, melodic angst, played by musical comrades from the borders of South London and Surrey.
Drawing their inspiration from your record collection, Leave it to Johnny are the band you wish you'd discovered sooner. With a guitar jangle somewhere between raw vulnerability and sharp precision, they channel the spirit and the energy of basement shows you still talk about. Honest, loud and unshakeably tuneful — Leave it to Johnny are your next favourite band!
The Long Version’s melodic folk-rock/Americana was inspired by bassist/singer Tricia Davies Nearn’s childhood soundtrack of 70's AM radio in her native Seattle. Guitarist Jon Heal adds a signature twang, while drummer David Krupski keeps the rhythm toe-tapping. Their long-combined history in bands aside, this is Tricia's first time up front. The Long Version are recording their first album with acclaimed UK songwriter Peter Bruntnell at the helm as producer. They are all quite tall and based in South London.
