Sydney/Gadigal-based Darling Street have been working hard on the scene for several years, releasing music that meditates on the past and present versions of themselves, and looks to the future with a sense of reckless optimism. Inspired by the heroes of rock and pop of the 60’s and 70’s, the group have roots in drunken cover gigs in the iconic pubs of Sydney’s nightlife hotspots. Over time, the group crafted their own tracks and progressively developed an extensive discography of songs they believed would get the crowd going. Paired with a live performance that evokes memories of the 80’s Australian pub rock scene, the band are rapidly coming into themselves as a collective.
The group, comprised of frontman Seamus Field, drummer Sophie Lawrence, guitarist and singer Paddy O’Dwyer, bassist Emma Smith, and guitarist Oliver Hahn, are stoked to be joining the Oxford Art Factory Birthday line-up for their biggest show yet. They are amped to play all their new high-energy rock tracks and intense ballads set for release later this year.
Darling Street are joined by some fantastic local talent:
Vertebrae is a band from Sydney combining simple catchy melodies with off beat guitar riffs, crashing drum sounds and heavy duty bass to create an original and memorable sound.
Rooted in the sounds of decades past, Second Guess reinterpret and create their own version of what it means to perform modern rock. Bringing together driven guitar riffs and melodies that linger, their upbeat songwriting provides an unrelenting optimism and immersive presence. The Sydney based 4 piece have started attracting attention by delivering cathartic, high energy performances that have secured them as an emerging band in the Sydney guitar music scene.
Could be Tuesday is a fresh, Newtown-based band of indie pop-rock jammers. You might witness them oversharing their assortment of song-covers and home-brewed original attempts with their unfortunate but enthusiastic supporters. Their confusing affiliation with the second day of the week hasn’t stopped them from growing their fan base with every gig. Catch them shimmying through Sydney’s live music scene - their music channels pop hooks and indie rock textures from The Backstreet Lovers, ROLE MODEL, Clairo and more. They could be sooner than you expect…. they Could be Tuesday!'
