Surrey Rainbow Project (SRP) is collaborating with Migrant Students United (MSU) to host a zine making event!
SRP is a community-service co-operative that provides services, programs, and events for queer racialized folks that focuses on creating safe, joyful spaces for connection and celebrating the social and cultural diversity of the 2SLGBTQIA+. Our current initiatives include community gardening, clothing swaps, and publishing zines. Our first issue of our zine, "Duh, Babe!" was about people, places and dreams of queer folks in Surrey.
For the upcoming second issue of our zine, we’re collaborating with Migrant Students United Vancouver (MSU) to highlight the experiences and stories of queer migrants, following the same theme of people, places and dreams.
MSU is a community-based and migrant-led grassroots initiative. Together, we fight exploitative rules, policies, and discriminatory cultures at the university, provincial, and national levels, which prevent us from accessing our rights. MSU envisions and struggles toward a future beyond the violence of borders. We demand just conditions for immigration, fair fee structures, better support for migrant students, and STATUS FOR ALL.
