Baletna verzija „Pepeljuge“ nebrojeno je puta ponovno zamišljana tijekom godina. Prve dokumentirane verzije datiraju iz 1813., nakon čega je uslijedila londonska produkcija 1822. Jedna zajednička karakteristika većine produkcija je glazba Sergeja Prokofjeva, skladana ranih 1940-ih. Praizvedba Prokofjevljeve skladbe bila je 1945. u Boljšoj teatru u koreografiji Rostislava Zaharova. Prokofjev je započeo svoju partituru 1941., ali je završio tek 1944. zbog Drugog svjetskog rata i njegova rada na operi „Rat i mir“.
O „Pepeljugi“ piše: “… Vidim Pepeljugu ne samo kao lik iz bajke, već i kao stvarnu osobu, koja osjeća, doživljava i kreće se među nama… Ono što sam prije svega želio izraziti u glazbi Pepeljuge bila je poetična ljubav Pepeljuge i princa, rađanje i procvat te ljubavi, prepreke na njenom putu i konačno ispunjen san.”
„Pepeljuga“ je omiljen balet generacijama, s brojnim produkcijama diljem svijeta. Za Hrvatski narodni balet u Rijeci Leo Mujić kreirao jee predstavu primjerenu svim uzrastima, koristeći svoj prepoznatljivi neoklasicistički stil.

Cinderella has continually inspired ballet reinventions, with early versions dating back to 1813 and a notable London production in 1822. Most stagings use Sergei Prokofiev’s score, written in the early 1940s and premiered in 1945 at the Bolshoi Theatre, choreographed by Rostislav Zakharov. Prokofiev began work in 1941 but finished in 1944, delayed by World War II and his opera War and Peace.
Writing about Cinderella, Prokofiev said:
“I see Cinderella not only as a fairy-tale character, but as a real person—someone who feels, experiences, and moves among us… What I wanted most of all to express in the music of Cinderella was the poetic love between Cinderella and the Prince: the birth and blossoming of that love, the obstacles in its path, and the final, fulfilled dream.”

Now, the Croatian National Ballet in Rijeka invites audiences of all ages to experience a fresh interpretation, choreographed by the renowned Leo Mujić. Known for his dynamic neoclassical style, Mujić sets this timeless tale against a sun-drenched Mediterranean backdrop, all to the lush sounds of the Rijeka Symphony Orchestra.
