Sunol Regional Wilderness
1895 Geary Road, Sunol, United States
Starting from the visitor center, our hike takes us across a bridge and then along the Indian Joe and Canyon View trails. Along the way, we'll enjoy spring wildflowers and see how the area has recovered from a wildfire that occurred a couple of years ago. There is a short creek crossing with good stable rocks.
We'll follow the Canyon View trail all the way to Little Yosemite (now called the Alameda Creek Overlook). We can stop for a snack by the waterfalls before heading back to the visitor center on a wide fire road.
Greenbelt Alliance educates, advocates, and collaborates to ensure the Bay Area's lands and communities are resilient to a changing climate. Read about some of our flood and fire-related work: People for Watershed Resilience; Living With Wildfire

Maureen O’Boyle has been hiking in the Bay Area for over 40 years and has been a hike leader for various volunteer groups. The distances have been getting shorter, but the enjoyment is not decreasing. Her favorite hikes are the Greenbelt hikes because of the skill and knowledge of its leaders. Maureen is a retired finance professional who enjoys bicycling and hiking, and she belongs to a few local bicycle clubs and hiking groups. Besides the Bay Area, her favorite place to hike is in the UK countryside.
