Hi, our names are Bryan and Chezy, and this is about our dog Bodhi — our goofy, loving, 7-month-old Vizsla mix. He’s not just a dog, he’s part of our family.
On August 23rd, Bodhi was hit by a car. We rushed him to UW Veterinary Care in Madison, where the vets confirmed he has a broken femur in his back leg, a fractured rib, several lung contusions, and severe road rash on his other leg. Despite all of this, he’s alert, fighting, and showing us the same strong spirit he’s always had.
The vets have told us that the cost for his treatment and surgery will be $9,000–$12,000. Depending on how things progress, Bodhi may even face amputation of his back leg if repair isn’t possible. This accident came right on the heels of other large family expenses for our kids, and the timing couldn’t be worse. We’re not usually ones to ask for help, but right now we truly need it to make sure Bodhi gets the care he deserves. After care and recovery from either surgery will require time off work for both of us, driving to medical appointments, and rehabilitation.
On top of Bodhi’s medical bills, are Bryan’s. After Bodhi was hit, Bryan rushed to Bodhi’s side to try to carry him to safety. When he tried to pick him up, Bodhi bit him in a state of shock. Both of his hands were injured and required X-rays and stitches.
