Meet with a small group to explore the basics of American Sign Language.
Group will meet at the large back table in the back corner of the library. Open to adults and teens 12+ who register in advance.
Prerequisite: Download the Mango Languages app on your phone/device using your Roxbury Library card and choose American Sign Language (ASL) as the language you want to learn. Contact a library staff member if you need assistance with this. This app is also offered by neighboring libraries a part of the MAIN Library Alliance, and the complete list of MAIN libraries is available here:

Meet your learning ally: Doris Lembo is a Roxbury resident. She has been a high school math teacher for 25 years and counting. While she doesn’t teach ASL, she recently went back to school to begin learning how to sign. She’s excited to explore ASL with you using the Mango app.
Register online of by calling the library at (973) 584-2400. Roxbury Library programs are made possible by the Friends of the Roxbury Public Library. Registration opens 14 days before each class. Dates in early 2026 will be 1/6, 1/20. 2/3, 2/17, 3/3, 3/17, 3/31, 4/14, 4/28.
