The Door County Museum and Archives invites community members to participate in Oral History Week, a special initiative to record and preserve the personal stories that shape our shared heritage.
Oral history captures experiences, memories, and perspectives that don’t always make it into written records. By sharing your voice, you help keep local traditions and values alive for future generations—building a better understanding of our past.
We’re looking for local voices with memories of:
• The stone, timber or commercial fishing industries in Door County
• The Door County Fair
• The railroad
• The museum’s early days, especially memories of Harry Dankoler
Other topics may be considered, but these are our main areas of focus for this year.
How It Works:
Recording sessions will be by appointment. To schedule your one-hour recording session email the museum at

You should be comfortable being recorded and interviewees will be asked to sign a release form allowing public use of their recording.
