🕯️🎃 Studley Repair Café - October Session (Third Saturday) 🎃🕯️
The nights are drawing in, the air's a bit crisp, and some household gremlins are bound to appear.
A lamp that flickers like a ghost? A vacuum that wails like it's seen one? A toaster that's given up the ghost entirely? Bring them along, our volunteers will do their best to put things right again.
This month we're running on the 3rd Saturday instead of the 2nd, so please share to get the word out so that people don't appear on the wrong Saturday.
📅 Saturday 18th October 2025
🕙 10 AM – 2 PM
📍 Studley Parish Centre, Old Vicarage Gardens, Studley, B80 7SG
Repairs are free, cash donations keep us running, and there'll be tea and cake as always.
❓ Studley Repair Café – Your Questions Answered
🔧 What is a Repair Café?
It's a community get-together where volunteers help fix broken household items for free. You bring the bits and bobs, we bring the tools, the know-how, and the brews. Donations keep us going.
✅ What can we fix?
✔️ Small kitchen appliances – toasters, kettles, coffee makers, blenders
✔️ Cleaning equipment – vacuums, carpet cleaners, handheld dust busters
✔️ Entertainment devices – game consoles, DVD players, VCR players, radios, record players, flat-screen TVs (sorry, no CRT/tube TVs)
✔️ Household electrics – lamps, fans, electric heaters (non–oil filled)
✔️ Clothing & textiles – buttons, zips, seams, patches
✔️ Homework helpers – desk lamps, clocks, laptops, printers, keyboards, mice
✔️ Gardening tools – shears, secateurs, mower blades (sharpened, not spooky)
💬 Not sure? Ask in the comments.
⏳ How long do repairs take?
Most are finished during the session. If more time is needed, that’s a private arrangement between you and the repairer to discuss and arrange.
☕ Do I need something broken to attend?
Not at all. Pop in for a brew, a slice of cake, and a chat.
💰 How much does it cost?
Nothing. Repairs are free.
We can only take cash donations to cover running costs. If replacement parts are needed, you’ll need to cover those.
🚫 What don’t we fix?
❌ High-voltage items – microwaves, electric showers, immersion heaters, hard-wired cookers/ovens, industrial kit, CRT style TVs
❌ Radiation-emitting items – old smoke detectors, UV sterilisation lamps, X-ray equipment
❌ Pressurised items – SCUBA tanks, fire extinguishers, steam systems, refrigeration units, gas cylinders, pressurised fuel tanks
❌ Large or fictional things – cars, planes, boats… or Frankenstein's monster (sorry, we don’t have a spare lightning rod).
🛠 Do you take items for donation?
We can fix an item you'd like to pass on, but we cannot handle the donation afterwards.
🅿 Is there parking?
Yes, there is free parking at Studley Parish Centre.
🙋 We Need Repair Volunteers!
We're busier than ever and could use more people with skills in woodworking, electrics, sewing, or mechanics. If you'd like to lend your skills to the community, we’d love to hear from you.
