Q: What exactly is this event?
A: It’s part cover song showdown, part improv chaos. All bands perform the same song, but in wildly different styles. Between bands, improv acts perform challenges they only learn about the night of. And all presented by an absolutely charrming host!
Q: Do I have to play the assigned song exactly as it is?
A: Nope! You can do a faithful cover, change the genre, swap the lyrics, make a parody, mash it with another tune - as long as the original song is still recognizable.
Q: How do I sign up?
A: Fill out the Google Form linked in the event page. We’ve got 7 band slots and 5 improv slots, first come, first served.
Q: What if I’m in the improv part?
A: You’ll be given a prompt (like “stand-up about the moon” or “Shakespeare monologue about pizza”) when you arrive. You can pick your performance slot based on arrival time - so show up early for more choice
Q: What do I need to bring?
A: Any instruments, props, or backing tracks you need. We’ll have a PA, mics, DI boxes, and basic sound setup ready. Backing tracks must be on a phone, tablet, or USB - no streaming mid-show.
Q: Is this family-friendly?
A: Not exactly. Language and adult humor are fine, but keep it fun - no hate speech or anything that would get us banned from the venue.
Q: Are there prizes?
A: Yes!
Music winner: Advances to the next round + prize package (TBD).
Improv winner: $50 + a “mystery prize” from our sponsor pool.
Everyone: A participation trophy with a random prize inside.
Q: Who decides the winners?
A: A mix of live audience reaction and online voting through YouTube hashtag comments after the show.
Q: Can I just come watch?
A: Absolutely - and you should. This event is best experienced live.
