𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗪𝗘𝗣 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗖𝗬𝗣𝗥𝗨𝗦:
It is our great honor to announce and invite you to participate in a powerful new initiative taking place this September in Cyprus: the Cyprus Women Environmental Peacemakers (CWEP) project. This action is under the Small Grants Programme of PLACE in Cyprus Project, funded by the European Union under the Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community with a grant of €7,000. This initiative is co-organized by Women in Film and Television – Cyprus and the Environmental Society of Lefka Association. It aims to contribute to lasting reconciliation by combining symbolic environmental action with political advocacy and intercultural dialogue. CWEP aims to empower women as vital agents of peacebuilding and environmental sustainability.
The CWEP project includes:
• Community Engagement through Seed Ball Workshops (20–21 September). Participants will take part in collective seed-ball making and dispersal in the UN Buffer Zone and a symbolic planting of one olive tree—symbolizing remembrance, regeneration, peace and unity through nature and honoring the remaining missing persons from both communities.
• A two-day conference in Nicosia (22–23 September), featuring speakers (environmentalists, academics, activists) from both communities and abroad.
• The presentation of a Policy Paper to the Bi-Communal Technical Committee on Environment, the Bi-Communal Technical Committee on Education, the Relevant European Parliament Committees (FEMM, CULT, AGRI, DROI).
CWEP is inspired by UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which highlights the importance of women in peacebuilding processes.

A comprehensive policy paper will be developed as an outcome of the two-day conference and focus group. It will be submitted to:
The Bi-Communal Technical Committees on Environment and Education and the European Parliament Committees (FEMM, CULT, AGRI, DROI)
It will outline clear recommendations for incorporating environmental peacebuilding into the reconciliation process and advocating for the Green Memorial’s long-term impact.
