The Secret Life of Woodlice - Online Workshop

If you want to develop your knowledge of entomology, particularly in the crustacean group of woodlice (Oniscidea), then join us for this online event.

Woodlice play a crucial role in ecosystems as decomposers, breaking down decaying plant material and recycling nutrients back into the soil. However, despite their importance, these often-overlooked invertebrates face habitat loss and environmental changes that could impact their populations. Understanding woodlice ecology and identification is key to monitoring their numbers and protecting their habitats.

Join Avery Hill, invertebrate enthusiast and Biodiversity Officer here at the Heart of England Forest, as we explore the purpose and benefits of woodlice, their fascinating adaptations, and how to identify a few common species. By the end of this online session, you will have a deeper understanding of their anatomy, lifecycle, and key identification features.
