Hanging List Book : Japanese Stab Binding Basics

Try your hand at a beginner-friendly Japanese style binding! Students will learn a brief history of the Japanese Stab Binding, and will receive guided instruction on how to create their own hanging list book. Select your cover paper, leather, and thread color, to create a book that is uniquely you!

This is a "make and take" class - students will create one hanging list book to take home.

While not required, it is recommended that you attend Shuttle Press & Bindery's "Pamphlet Stitch" class before attempting this binding - we will be building upon the sewing techniques we've already learned!

All students who attend Shuttle Press & Bindery workshops will be required to sign a liability waiver in order to participate. Letterpress and bindery tools can be dangerous, and can cause significant injury or harm. The class instructor reserves the right to deny instruction to anyone in attendance who displays impairment or an inability to use tools safely and properly.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, students who are feeling unwell should NOT attend in-person workshops. Masks are optional, unless otherwise mandated by state or local officials.
