Bio: Nilupa Yasmin is an award-winning artist and educator working primarily in lens-based media. Her practice explores the intersection of art and craft, and the expanded materiality of photography. Yasmin’s work engages deeply with themes of culture, self-identity, and anthropology. Drawing on her own experience as a British Bangladeshi woman, she weaves together elements of gender, religion, and heritage. A key aspect of her practice involves socially engaged photography, working collaboratively with communities to produce and curate meaningful visual narratives. A selection of her work is included in many permanent and private collections, including the Government Art Collection, The New Art Gallery Walsall, and Birmingham Museums Trust. She has exhibited internationally at The Las Photo Festival in California, the Indian Institute of Technology in Hyderabad, and the Pingyao Photo Festival in China.
