In 2021, Theatre Maker and Performer Sophia Hatfield began exploring her experiences as a lone female runner—facing catcalls, abuse and fear simply for stepping outside. From this came GRIT (and other tales of lone women striders), a performance celebrating women who walk, stride and run, while challenging the stories that restrict women’s freedom to move through public space.
Now, four years on and with two small children, Sophia’s questions have shifted. How does motherhood reshape safety, freedom and the right to roam? What does it mean to take up space when tiny feet walk alongside?
Join Sophia for an evening of live performance, film, folk tales and creative discussion, with time to write, share and reflect together.
What to Expect
-Live performance: Little Butter Pat the Cat with live music
-Films and extracts from A Clean Run and GRIT
-Preview of The Black Dog and Other Tales of Motherhood
-Open discussion: motherhood, safety and autonomy
-Space for your own creative response
Everyone welcome—artists, creatives, runners (or non-runners), mothers, storytellers, outdoor lovers, and anyone curious about women’s rights, safety and identity.
