What is Basic Life Support (BLS) training
Basic Life Support (BLS) training provides essential emergency skills, including high-quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and management of choking incidents. The course also covers casualty assessment, conducting a primary survey using the DRABCD protocol, and placing an unresponsive but breathing casualty in the recovery position.
Course Outline:
Examine help to prioritise a casualty.
Review the role of a First Aider.
Consider levels of response and taking a casualty's history.
Discuss Stroke, Angina and Heart Attack.
Examine Treatment of Bleeding, Burns and Shock & Post Traumatic Stress.
Role Play/Practical: Primary and Secondary Survey, CPR, Recovery Position, Choking Person
