Tuesday 12th August, sees the peak of one of the best meteor showers, The Perseids, and will be holding our annual, Perseids Meteor Watch, we invite you to join us from 7:30pm till late to join our volunteer team and other members of the public to see some "shooting stars" whizz across the night sky, we will also have our all sky cam fixed outside our Planetarium and beaming live images to our TV screens inside the Planetarium for those who are a bit cold, you can see them from the comfort and warmness inside the Planetarium and not only that, we will be doing some radio astronomy so that you can also hear some of the meteors as they pass through our atmosphere.
Please remember to bring a seat or mat with you if you intend to sit outside and remember to dress for the weather, rain and cold.
As with all astronomy events this is weather dependent, so if it's cloudy our volunteer team will be on hand to do some presentations, show you around the Planetarium and Observatory.
So remember to put this date in your diary, mark it on your calendar:
